January Update
Hi,
I hope you have had an enjoyable Chanukah and winter break. I wanted to share with you some of the things going on in Cambridge and let you know about some upcoming events.
First of all, a big thank you to everyone who continues to support our projects and for sharing in our vision. A special thank you to Mendel Bindell (Emmanuel 2016), Serena Hines (Sidney Sussex 2005), Natalie Rebeyev (Hughes Hall 2015) and Meena Viswanath (Jesus 2009) for recently becoming ‘Friends’ of Chabad of Cambridge for this academic year. To become a friend, you can make a UK gift-aided donation here or a US tax-deductible donation here (If you would like to help us set up an advantageous tax set up in your location please get in touch). Together we can make a big difference.
This year, the public menorah was placed outside the Alison Richard Building on Sidgwick Site where we held a public lighting on the second night with music and doughnuts.

During Chanukah I was invited to New York to lead a farbrengen in Williamsburg for Satmar Chasidim who have become interested in learning Chabad Chassidut (sorry no pictures were allowed), whilst there I got to spend time with Levi and Tzemach who had time off from yeshivah and meet up with some of you.
An exciting new project we started this winter was a Camp Gan Israel Winter Camp with Chana and Shaina as counsellors. With this year being a Hakhel year we were looking for new ways to bring people together and we are planning more camp weeks during the upcoming school breaks.
Rochel, Rosie and I will be coming to Israel for five days arriving on 15 January and we would really like to see some of you when we are there. We have organised a farbrengen together with Chabad of Baka on Monday 16 January and we hope the Cambridge Jerusalamites can make it. Details below.
I will also be presenting a paper at a conference organised by Bar Ilan in honour of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks which you are also very welcome to join (use this link to register). I will be speaking during the Thursday (19th) morning session (9:00-10:30).
Finally, I am currently trying to decide on this year’s Purim theme, I will send a bottle of ‘Sprit of Cambridge’ to whoever can suggest the best idea (I am the judge).
That’s all for now, I hope to see some of you soon.
